First off, this is a small project for my Color Theory class. The idea is to select a colorful painting, divide it into four quadrants and paint each with a different style. (pointilism, broken color, expressionism, and freestyle).
But that seemed ridiculousy boring and I'm not too fond of copying other people's famous paintings, you know? So I asked if I could bend the rules a little bit...
So first off, I made of collage of famous paintings (which I'll have to locate again to get the titles for you) and cut out pieces I liked from each in order to make my own. And while I was flipping through large art books, I came across a painting of a war scene, with guys fying all over the place and one spitting up blood. And in another book I found a couple dancing. So I was like "how ironc would it be if I put them together. You can see that's just what I did. At the time, I thought this is perfect. I want it just that way, but then the proffessor came by and said in just the brightest, cheeriest voice she could muster: "Have you looked in that book there, it has naked people in it!" (As though that's exactly what I was looking for) and everyone started to laugh. She's the sweetest thing and the way she said it was so endearing and yet so unassumingly perverted that it was by far the last thing anyone expected her to say. And while I thought my piece was complete as it was, I had to throw in a few nudes just to spice things up. I had to remind everyone of, including the professor, the best quote of all color theory classes. So yeah, I don't usually incorporate large buttocks in my paintings or a breast sticking out of a bush. This is just out of spite. lol
Furthermore, instead of diving the quadrants vertically and horizantly, making four squares like everyone else, I divided it by shapes ( ie, the dancin couple is in pointilism)
